Awakened and Semi-Awakened
The explanations
A character can start off as either Awakened or Semi-Awakened, however the number is limited so check the open/taken list to see if there are any spots open for you before creating the character. If you start off as Awakened or Semi-awakened you must explain how it occurred in your history, if you RP it out then one thread must consist of the change occurring. It must also be a thread of good degree, you will not be classed as Awakened or Half-awakened until the thread with the change within it is complete and it has been read over by a number of staff members.[/blockquote]
The way a person becomes either awakened or Semi-awakened is by releasing too much of their Yoki energy and passing something which is known as their ‘limit,’ this varies from person to person though is normally around 80% of their total Yoki energy. This is when the difference between Awakened and Semi-Awakened beings occurs, to become fully awakened a person does not try to force their energy shut and allows it to take control of them (which is much harder for males to resist instead of females). When the Yoki release reaches 100%, the person will enter a ‘fit of energy’ for two posts, this is when the change occurs and the person is at their weakest. Unable to protect themselves, other than a torrent of energy swirling around them. Once the two posts are made, they will be classed as awakened (if the staff members allow it).
To become Semi-awakened a person will pass their limit and then seals their energy, returning them to their human form. This is a hard feat to accomplish as a person is normally worn out and injured once they reach their limit, when a person reaches their limit they will receive a PM from a staff member warning them they are coming close, or have passed, their limit. We will normally tell you that you are drawing close to your limit, though sometimes we may be unable to PM you before the limit itself is reached. In the PM the staff member will also tell you if you are able to revert back to a human form on your own. This is graded on your overall strength (that being your equivalent rank) and how worn out you are from combat, the reason(s) you can or cannot revert back will be given in the PM. If they are not stated then you are allowed to ask for them, and they will be sent via PM.
A person that has passed their limit can be helped to return to their human form, another Claymore or Guider is able to sync their Yoki with the person who has passed their limit and ‘drain’ it from them. Making it much easier for a person to revert to a human form, if this occurs a PM will be sent out to both people involved. This splits the strain of the Yoki release between both people, though in a bad situation both people can awaken.
Please keep in mind, getting a PM and returning to a human form does not mean you are Half-awakened. If you are, a staff member will inform you and explain it in more detail, this will be done via another PM. If you get no PM, then assume you are not Half-awakened, though you are free to PM and ask a staff member.

Awakened Beings
An Awakened being is something to be feared, and is the biggest mistake of having created Claymores. A being of this stature is a great deal stronger and normally gains between three to five Equivalent Rank Increase (ERI), meaning a person is able to Awaken and surpass the Prime Guider, the rank is simply stated as ‘Greater than Prime.’ A Claymore of this type has a dire hunger for human flesh, and needs to eat at least one full human body a day or their Equivalent rank decrease (normally between one and five), this depends on the length of time without a meal. Though, they cannot die from hunger, yet the hunger is capable of putting them into a rampage. One meal can reverse the negative effects of no food for any amount of time, meaning that if an Awakened being goes without food for seventeen years and then eats one human they will return to full power once the body is devoured.
If a Claymore is recorded as becoming an awakened being then the council places the name of the person on something known as the ‘hit list,’ from this point on a Claymore that encounters the being is assigned to gain as much information, or if possible kill it in battle. Not complying with this will put the Claymore in bad light, and most likely some form of punishment. A Guider will also be assigned to hunting and eliminating the said Awakening being, that is only if there are no suitable Claymores.
Awakened beings all gain the below traits, though on some rare cases they can be changed. The increases vary from creature to creature, so please keep that in mind.
- The physical strength, endurance and agility of the being increase a large amount. Shown by the ERI gained.
- Awakened beings natural form is that of their awakened form, though they are capable of disguising as humans in the same manner as Yoma.
- Their Yoki is now fully released; to restrain it they will need something along the lines of ‘Yoki restraint’ as an awakened power.
- An awakened being gains three Ability Tokens (ATs) and two Ability Increase Tokens (AITs).
[/li][li] Their natural defence increases by a decent amount allowing them to take larger hits with not as much damage.
[/li][li] All awakened beings gain a great control over their own Yoki, however there are a few that decide this trait does not fit them and exchange it.[/li][/ul]

Semi-Awakened Beings
A person that has half-awakened can return to their normal life and have no real change occur to them. The only real difference is that a Claymore that is Semi-awakened can push past their limit and enter their awakened form partially for combat. Increasing their physical abilities and making them a dangerous and capable fighter. Unlike Awakened beings they are not put onto the target list as they are, at most times, still in control and are able to manifest and calm the awakened state at will. However, they are kept under a tight leash and normally have one Guider within a close proximity at all times.
Meaning throughout combat their equivalent rank can start at seven and then suddenly jump up by two or so, which will often catch opponents off guard. They are capable of returning to their human state even when injured, however if they awaken too many times then reverting will become impossible. This number is not set, though is normally around ten, yet differs from person to person. If you come close to this limit then a staff member will PM you with the details, feel free to ask questions in the FAQ section.
Semi-awakened beings all gain the below traits, though on some rare cases they can be changed. The increases vary from creature to creature, so please keep that in mind.
- The physical strength, endurance and agility of the being increase a small amount in their natural form, then a reasonable amount in their half-awakened form. In their normal form they gain one ERI, when they go into semi-awakened form (80%+ yoki release) they gain an extra ERI.
- When a claymore passes their ‘limit’ they will begin to turn into their awakened form, though not all at once. They can retain control until 100% release, in most cases.
- Their Yoki is drawing close to being fully release; to restrain it they will need something along the lines of ‘Yoki restraint’ as an awakened power.
- A semi-awakened being gains two Ability Tokens (ATs) and one Ability Increase Tokens (AITs).
